In London there is a famous bronze statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. Since I was a kid I've admired a copy of it in a small park here in Toronto. Recently I learned that many countries throughout the old Commonwealth have such copies. This piece is by no means modeled on the statue, but you might say inspired by it. The figure is neither Tinker Bell nor Peter Pan, but someone inbetween.

The figure is only a pencil sketch, coloured with Photoshop. The background is entirely airbrush work. Someone commented that an earlier version looked more like chocolate than bronze, so I went back into the file and give it further tought. I decided that it needed to be darker, and, more important, that the highlights needed to be yellowish rather than white. It seems to have done the trick.

not sure if it is in the same vein but there is a peter pan park in emporia, kansas, just up the road an hour or two.

my recollection from a grade 4 field trip is the park had a bronze pan as well and was dedicated to one of the city father's who lost a daughter when she was young. she died in a riding accident.

peter pan park was dedicated to her because, indeed, she would be young forever and never grow up. along with the dedication of the park was the installation of a bronze pan that i remember from my youth.

point being the bronze pan was probably inspired by the bronze pans of the commonwealth.

emporia back in the day was a swinging place when william allen white, famous newspaper man, would have einstein over to hang out, for some reason, in a relatively god-forsaken stretch of kansas.

Having been in Kansas, I'm tempted to ask if there are any other stretches of the state. But I've seen Nebraska and know there are worse places...
: )

Good chance its the stame statue since there were many casts made. If I had a "scraps" area like I do in FA, I'd post a photo.

I got to your page and found a couple of delicious Tinker Bells to sdave, but as for posting there, that's going to take some studying. You say post a link as though I had the remotest idea how that was done. Or where in my gallery any Tinker Bell art may be posted, if any is. I'm afraid I don't have a lot of time or patience right now for playing on the computer. But I'll spend a few minutes looking into it.

Yep. Saw it there, thanks to Joe mentioning it. He did tell me the way to make a link is to type icon* but he neglected to say where this is to be typed...

I viewed most of the Tinkerbells -- there's some really good ones and some funny ones too. (I kind of like the one by Starvalerian for some reason.) I did a reall nice Tink back in colour around 1987 or 88, that I never scanned. I don't think it count's as "new" anyway.
