I have been plagued by nightmares lately. I normally am lucid enough to win any battles with attackers and so on. I love a good nightmare like that. But these are the kind that linger and cause helpless feelings like arguing with a close friend and knowing it would end the friendship or even talking someone down from suicide and failing. Normally dreams feel fast like only a short time has passed but these feel like hours.
Only fools write without being paid. I wonder what he would say about my not only writing for free but refusing to let anyone see what I write? It may sound funny but to me it almost feels like it is luck. Like nights I don't type out something something bad happens the next day. If I do write nothing terribly bad happens. (Also the same with burning candles.)
NIIIICE gun collection!
Yeah, I write every night. I know a lot of people who do as well, like Aelius here on DA and over on FA. (I think he's even had some publishing success)
I'm kind of the opposite. If I got published and it was going to at least see SOME sales getting paid wouldn't mean shit to me. If a few people enjoyed it then mission accomplished. The only thing would be "My characters are my characters. They will not belong to the publisher." sort of thing. Which I'd worry about. Not to mention I always liked Clive Cussler and from his bag of tricks I would put a car I owned in the stories I wrote.
"If some Hollywood mogul picks up my book at an airport and likes it enough to think perhaps it might make a decent movie... then I'll ask for my cut. Or should I say... given my own nature... TAKE my cut."
Yeah, hell it's all too easy these days for someone to take your creation, find a loophole to call it their own, and lay claim to your work. I had a guy here on DA steal some of the art that I had done and posted it to promote himself SUPPOSEDLY because he knew the artist and the artist had SUPPOSEDLY given him permission. Even though the artist had not been heard from by anybody in close to a decade and none of his contat information was current DA was siding with him until I was virtually getting litigious and preparing to send the physical artwork to the DA staff. "You can't get a hold of the artist I hired to do the work and since i have the original work in my posession with the correspondence the artist and I shared therefore the only person who can stake any claim to it otherwise is ME. The artist owns the copyright to the image I own the copyright to the content. THIS joker doesn't own any of it!"
It still took two months before DA acted. Nobody has heard from the artist, either.
Though I suppose if I passed on and my content was out there being enjoyed by the media (more than likely Cartoon Network) I really wouldn't care. Because I'd be dead.
